About Us

Providing quality dog training to the Triad for over 60 years

The Winston-Salem Dog Training Club (WSDTC) was founded in November 1964 by a passionate group of local dog obedience enthusiasts who pooled their resources to establish a dog training facility. Today, we have grown to over 150 members who actively support the activities of the club. As an American Kennel Club (AKC) member club, we conduct sanctioned Rally and Obedience Trials, Scent Work Trials, Tracking Tests and Agility events.

Our members and interns are unpaid volunteers and mentors who generously donate their time to teach classes, perform community service activities, manage trials and events, process class registrations and perform many administrative functions of the club all while training and competing with their dogs. Without this dedicated volunteer workforce, we could not offer the low-cost training classes we provide to the community.

We are home to the NADAC Leaps and Bounds Agility Group and First in Flight Flyball Team.

We are a 501C(4) nonprofit organization. The money raised through class fees and donations fund operating costs, facility maintenance and allows us to sponsor other nonprofit organizations. Contributions to our organization are not tax deductible.

Our Facilities

Building

Building 2.jpg

Our 8000 square foot heated air conditioned building is fully matted.  We have access to private fields for agility classes and tracking.

The building may be rented with approval by the Board of Directors.

Dog Exercise Area

There is a partially fenced area next to the building to potty your dog. We have provided a scoop, pick up bags and trash can for your convenience.

Please do not allow your dog on our neighbor's property.

Parking

All traffic must go to the right as you enter the parking lot. Please pull forward all the way to the curb stops. If you have a large SUV or long bed truck, the last row behind the building has the most room.

Lock your car and do not leave valuables in your car.

In the community

Our members perform community service activities such as obedience demonstrations and therapy dog visits. The club sponsors the New Leash on Life/Piedmont Animal Welfare Alliance at Forsyth Correctional.
